polyrack

Question
Dear Stepanie The new polytrack surface seems to not favor front runners.Do you think that this will change the breeding industry. And how.I am also wondering if many breders that breed for cheap early speed will have to change as well.

Answer
Alan,

I think that it is very early to judge the future of racing on Polytrack.  We'll have a much clearer idea how it may affect breeding after the polytrack surfaces have been in place for a few more years.
In general, though, many buyers look for precocious and speedy individuals in order to take advantage of early two year old racing, rather than just looking for front running horses, and I doubt that Polytrack will change that much.
