Partnered Workouts for Young Horses: Benefits and Considerations
Question
hello ma'am. should baby horses be cantered and galloped with a partner(either an senior buddy horse or a same batch one)? for instance, we have a filly named WHITE WHISPERER. she was cantered and galloped with the rider alone and during gate training session she planted in the gates while other 2 broke very well and this filly didnt raise a fluent gallop in the later part of the gate training session.
Answer
Hello,
Yes, young horses should be exposed to galloping in company before going to the public race track or doing any gate training. Ideally, a young horse should go in a set, that is 3 horses, so that each youngster can get experience galloping on the outside, the inside and in between horses.
