Why Do Horses Flatten Their Ears While Galloping?

ears back   hello sir, why do horses keep their ears back while galloping at fast pace during the race or workouts?

hi some horses keep their ears back in a race and i think it means that they are really trying hard to race. other horses keep their ears up during the race. i think that a horse with ears back  means that they are really trying to win the race. thanks ED HESS
