steel shoes for horses

hello sir, may i know why few horses require steel shoes during the race? even though these shoes are heavy, most of the horses won races at our local racetrack.

hi  it depends on the foot of the horse which shoes you decide to use when racing. steel shoes always last longer and aluminum shoes are softer and lighter but do not protect the foot as good as steel shoes do. then you have the rubber shoes to race in also. horses with rubber shoes do help the sore going horses.the trainer will decide which type of shoe will work the best. thanks ED HESS
