Optimal Feeding Schedule for Racehorses: Frequency & Best Practices

QUESTION: hello sir, all the trainers fed their stable horses twice a day. i dont think so this will be sufficient. may i know, how many times a day shall i feed a racehorse?

ANSWER: hi --- some trainer do feed twice a day, but other trainers do feed three times a day. i think it is up to the trainer on how many times to feed a day. i use to feed 3 times a day. thanks ED HESS

HI  I ALWAYS FED VERY EARLY IN THE AM ABOUT 1 HOUR OR SO BEFORE THEY WENT TO THE TRACK AND I ALWAYS FED A SMALL AMOUNT LIKE A COUPLE OF QUARTS, THEN FED DINNER AFTER THEY WERE Cooled OUT ETC ABOUT 10-11 AM, THEN FED SUPPER AROUND 4-5 PM . EVERY HORSE IS DIFFERENT SO YOU WILL NOT FEED EVERY HORSE THE SAME AMOUNT. THANKS  Ed Hess
