hanging in or out in race

Question
QUESTION: hello sir, may i know why do horses hang in or out in the race, is there any method of fixing this problem?

ANSWER: Hi Rohit,
Hanging (in or out) is usually a result of a horse being uncomfortable about running close to other horses. It tends to show up when the horse is under pressure and on a turn.
Most trainers will experiment with adding blinkers to the bridle assembly or a shadow roll. A shadow roll is a woolen roll placed over the nose about half way between nostrils and eyes. The horse tends to focus on it and not whats going on around it.

Hope this helps,

QUESTION: sir, do horses which suffer from dental problem hang in the race?

ANSWER: Hi Rohit,
That is an interesting idea! You may be right. I can imagine that a horse with a sore jaw or tooth would tend to hang towards the sore side to take the pressure off the bit. Its logial and worth considering. Ask a vet or equine dental doctor.
There are a lot of contacts and information available at www.nzracing.co.nz this is the website for NZ Racing, the regulatory organisation the runs NZ racing.

QUESTION: thank you sir, are my questions consistent? i know that there is lot to learn in horse racing, i'm i improving? please inspire me?

Answer
Hi Rohit,
There is an old saying, 'Learn by doing, knowledge is power' If you keep asking questions you will keep learning more about racing and training.
My experience is limited so widen the group of people who you correspond with and get some different answers. You will learn more.
Cheers,
Don
