How to become a licensed Jockey

Question
Hi!
I am Anna. I REALLY want to become a Jockey but I am not sure how to get started. I have much experience with horses, but the problem is that I live in Mississippi and there are not many race horse farms down here. I would really like to enroll in a school during the summer but I don't know how to get any information on local racing schools.    Thanks!

Answer
Anna,

If you want to enroll in a school for jockeys, there are two that I know of.  I can't endorse either of them, but I can give you the info to check them out for yourself.
The first is the The North American Racing Academy run by former jockey Chris McCarron, located in Lexington, Kentucky. The website address for this school is http://nara.kctcs.edu/
The other is in California, run by ex-rider Frank Garza.  The website address is www.thejockeyschool.com.

Good Luck!
