Identifying the Legendary Racehorse Dark Secret: A Story of Resilience

I am looking for the name of a race horse that while running a race (sorry, don't know which race)fell and broke a leg, got back up and finished the race with a win.  After the race, this horse was put down.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Thank you for the question.  The horse that comes to mind is Dark Secret, which, although he didn't fall, did shatter a leg at midstretch in the 1934 (or maybe it was '35) Jockey Club Gold Cup, winning the race on three legs over a very good runner in Faireno.  It's a very tragic story, as Dark Secret had to be put down after his incredible victory.

I've never heard of a horse breaking down, falling, getting up, waiting for the jockey to remount, then going on to win a race.  It would all take too long.  I just can't imagine it ever happening.
