manual treadmill

Question
Nick
I am an older Gal playing rec. indoor soccer once a week. Its pretty laid back nobody runs too hard ;-).
I am trying to get in better shape but running for any length of time has always hurt my feet and knees. Losing weight would help but I have been like this since kid.
I have an old manual incline treadmill. Would walking on this for a few minutes a day be worthwhile? It would be easier than driving to the gym or buying a new motorized treadmill. Thanks!

Answer
Susan, great job on being so active. Making the effort to walk on an old manual incline treadmill will definitely be worthwhile. It will improve the ability of your legs to do work. When you perform exercise you improve the ability of your legs to derive energy which will make you a better soccer player.
