Marathon coming up and am injured

2016/7/22 10:10:50

Question
I am running the Berlin marathon on 30th September. I have picked up a hip flexor injury and I am seeing physio (says no running and given excerises). Have been running 30-35 miles a week before injury but have not run for 2 weeks now. As I won't make planned time - I want to run walk just to finish marathon. This will be my second marathon. Any advice on last few weeks training (once pain has gone)

Answer
Jane,

There is nothing really that can be done the last few weeks to improve performance. The work is done. If training has been proper, easing off  the last few weeks will not affect your performance any. HOWEVER, not resting or training harder can have a detrimental effect on your time. Eat a lot of carbs, protein, stretch, and continue running, but easy. Good luck
