Knees wont let me run

2016/7/22 10:11:31

Question
I have become very depressed lately because I can't run and am losing my fitness. Running really is a great release for me and I feel great when I do it. But I've been having knee problems for many months. I saw a sports medicine doctor twice, and he gave me stretches and exercises to do which I have been doing. My shoes are fairly new and Ive even been running on grass especially to prevent damage to my knees. But still my knees hurt, I can't even walk without them hurting. I'm very depressed about this whole situation and I was wondering if you have any advice about how I might cure this problem. Running helped me deal with other problems in my life and I want to get that back.

Answer
Some people just aren't meant to be runners, perhaps cycling could be another exercise option for you. I know many cyclists who have gained a lot from that sport & activity.

I don't know the extent of your situation with your knees, so its best if you consult your sports med doctor about those concerns some more.

I hope this helps you well,
