Question
Hi John, I'm new to running and I'd really appreciate some guidance. I'm fairly fit and fairly in shape as I have an active work / lifestyle, but have recently taken up running too. I'm just doing about 20 - 30 mins at the the mo, every day - but I find I'm getting bad cramps in my calves, which can stay or get worse through the day. Should I be stretching or warming up before my run? or is there something else I'm missing? I do like running with bare feet - on grass not pavement - but maybe that's causing it?
I'd be so grateful for any suggestions
Thanks so much, Sarah

Answer
How are ya Sarah
I would stop after about 5 min. and strech out the calfs and also after you finish. No warm up is neccessary. When you get home, ice your calfs for about 10 min to reduce inflamation.I would also suggest you take 500mg of vit.c with your 3 meals a day. Also take a cal mag suplement.
Sarah you are going to experience from time to time start up situations, but this is just part of the process ongoing. You just have to stay on top of things.

To your success

John
