Skechers Shape ups?

Question
John
I have developed a bit of arthritis in my knees, and I have always had foot problems, so I have decided to switch from running to 'power walking'. Running conditions are poor where I live (ice, snow, traffic) and a treadmill is hard on my knees, so I am going to try the indoor rubber floored track at the university.
I was thinking about getting a pair of these sketchers shape ups. They are made for walking not running and are supposed to tone your muscles and back? Sounds like hooey but according to reviews they do work for some. Since I sit behind a steering wheel for ten hours a day, at age 55, I welcome anything that will keep me supple and avoid injury in addiition to the regular stretching I do.
Thanks for your opinion.

Answer
Hi Bud
First is how do you know it is arthritis.Did you have a MRI.It is not something you can't guess at.Chondromalacia has many of the same symptoms.Forget the shapeups and go with a comfortable pair of running shoo's.There just a marketing scam with just MICRO science numbers like a flee on a horses back. You were right hooey. The best tool for you to supplement your walking and jogging and correct your knee problems and tracking and alignment situation which is always there is a up right stationary bike workouts for 45 min to 1hr 30min as often as you can at med tension increasing it as you get stronger at 65 to85 rpm. This workout is like buying GOLD for maintaining great tracking and alignment support. Also take 500mg vit c with food 3 times a day for strengthening tendons and ligaments and collagen.Let me know about that arthritis conformation  since if you don't have it you don't want some fool doctor milking your wallet treating something that doesn't exist. You can call me here anytime in Albuquerque NM for more clarity Bud if you want. You just have to know for sure on that arthritis. My guess is you don't since your job behind the wheel plays havoc with knees.

All the best Bud
