Safe Jogging After 60: A Beginner's Guide
Question
I always loved to jog but have not done anything except walk for years. Should I start it up again at age 60? I am not over weight 5'8" 135 pounds.
Answer
Chris,
You can start safely by doing short jogging spurts of 30 to 60 seconds, interspersed with your walking. Gradually equal out the walk & jog times, then slowly increase the jogging times so you can go continuously. A good resource is Runnersworld.com for a good beginner walk/jog program.
I hope this assistance finds you well.
