New York City Marathon Winner: Who Won the First Race?
The first New York City Marathon took place in 1970 and was won by Gary Muhrcke, an unknown 28-year-old runner from Ridgewood, New Jersey. He finished the race in a time of 2:32:44. Nina Kuscsik won the first women's title in 3:08:43.
