Question
Nick, I,m not a climber but asking if there is any kind of  emergency release coupling for use w/ ropes chains etc. for hoisting, pulling, towing. This coupling needs to support a few hundred static lbs. but may be subject to a few hundred more surge lbs.by being jerked, or sudden wench stops etc. The release would need to be operated manually, like a rip-cord for instance. Would use in-line, between ropes or chains etc. Is there such a thing? Where? anyone else to consult? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Chris

Answer
I'm not familiar with any devises for chains, but take a look at the following sites, they may have something you can use.  You may also want to go to your local Farm & Fleet to see if they have anything.
