Question
I saw a pair of what looked like metal goggles with slices in them used in a movie called "death hunt". The movie takes place in the cold Yukon. Have you ever seen anything like them before, and if you have can you tell me what they are called and are used for?
also here is a link to a picture of the goggles.

Answer
In all of the magazines and catalogs i've looked at, i don't think i've ever seen these sold so don't know what they are called.  If I had to guess at their intended use, I would have to say the help reduce the glare off of the snow similar to polarization on sunglasses.  My gut feeling though is that these were made especially for the movie.  It appears that vision would be quite limited and metal in the cold is not usually a good thing, especially on your face.  Have you ever seen A Cristmas Story when the kid puts his tounge on the metal pole.  Not a good combination.  On the other hand, I could be wrong and everyone in the Yokon is wearing them.

Was someone on ebay selling them?  If so, have you inquired with the seller?

Hope that helped and thanks for the question,

Nick
