1K Rowing Time for Novice Girls (12-16) - Is 4:21 Good?

i am in a rowing summer camp with girls ages 12-16, we have been rowing for one month, and we are all novices who have never rowed before this
we have done a couple of 1ks and our best time is 4:21
is this good enough to race against other girls our age with the same amount of experience?

Hi Katie: The average time for 12-16 year old women for a 1K is 4:28.  

It's impossible to say how good your boat of ladies would fare against another boat based solely on erg scores.  Experience on the water, rowing technique, and how the boat sets up would be major factors in how well a crew would do.  

If your crew puts the time in together, you will improve and be competitive.
