what is the length of hose for octopus&demand
at the end details about scuba unit weight length specifiction

Answer
Hi Amir,

In order for me to provide some sort of answer to your questions, let me give you some rough estimates for the individual pieces.  These pieces can be combined in a number of ways, depending on the preferences of the diver.

Tank:  80 cu ft. aluminum - 40 pounds, 80 cu ft. steel - 45 pounds, 63 cu ft. aluminum - 30 pounds, 72 cu ft. steel - 40 pounds, 100 cu ft. aluminum - 50 pounds, 100 cu ft. steel - 60 pounds.

BC:  anywhere from 6.5 pounds to 15 pounds

Regulator set:  anywhere from 3 pounds to 9 pounds depending on configuration.

Weights:  anywhere from 0 to 40 pounds

The above items will compose the scuba unit.  The weights are included since they may be enclosed in removable weight pouches in the BC (weight integrated).  Otherwise, they're contained in a weight belt or weight vest which is worn separately.  They may also be divided between the BC and a weight belt.  How the weights are handled depends on the equipment configuration and the desire of the diver.

The length of hose for the octopus is generally between 28 and 36 inches although some can be much longer (around 7 feet).  The length of hose for the primary regulator is usually between 24 and 28 inches but can also vary depending on the needs of the diver.  These hoses can be easily changed so there is no set length.  As a rule of thumb, the octopus hose is longer than the primary hose so the octopus can be more easily given to another diver in need.

Amir, I think you can see from the information provided that there is no single answer to your question.  Any of the items described above are likely to be found on different scuba units.  Divers in tropical waters are likely to be wearing lighter units while divers in colder waters or cave explorers will be wearing considerably heavier gear.  Of course, all of this gear is relatively weightless underwater.

I hope this information answers your questions.

Sincerely,
Mike Giles
