Drysuit Diving for Wetsuit Divers: Can You Use a Pee Valve?

Question
just wanted to know can a wetsuited diver have a pee valve attaced to his wetsuit and use the catheter condom device that drysuit divers wear to releive them selfs  also is it posable to have a trydive using a drysuit or not as a friend of mine wants to take me diving where the water is going to be very cold and want me to learn to dive in a drysuit is this posable

Answer
Thanks for the questions Keith.  Its not common, but yes, there are some pee valves that can be installed on a wet suit.  Its permanent once done.  Dive Rite makes the Unrinator with an Unbalanced Discharge Valve for this purpose.  I'd give them a call and check on it further.

Yes, you could probably find a dive shop (possibly with access to a pool) that would let you try out a drysuit under instructor supervision.  It is common practice to rent dry suits because not everyone can afford the purchase price.  I would strongly urge you to take the PADI or SSI Dry Suit specialty class (which would involve two dives) prior to attempting to use a dry suit with your friend.  Buoyancy control is quite different in a dry suit and without proper training you could inadvertently initiate a rapid ascent to the surface or be subject to uncomfortable dry suit squeezes.  Good luck!  Jesse
