Question
I am trying to find out what year this revolver was made. I know the 1st Patent date is October 8, 1895. Here is what I have on the barrel left hand side it reads "Premier 22 Rim Fire" There are no markings on the right side of the barrel. The handles are black in color with a stamped Owl's Head on both handles. Stamped on the bottom of the handle it shows the serial number as 211270. The gun is plated in silver or chrome and I understand there is also a 32 Cal barrel that also fits the gun. Any information you can provide would help me allot. Thank you

Michael

Answer
Hello Michael.
The revolver you describe is a Harrington & Richardson Premier Second Model Third Variation, manufactured from 1909-1913. The plating is nickel. The grips are not original to this revolver, as the grip logo for the H&R is a 'bull's eye' target with holes in it. The grips with the 'owl's head' are from an Iver Johnson revolver, which are very much alike. This small frame was manufactured in .22 caliber and .32 S&W caliber. This does not mean that your revolver was equipped with an interchangeable barrel and cylinder. It was available in either caliber, but in totally separate guns.
I hope this helps answer your questions, and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
