Question
Hello I wanted to know if a 185 grain ammo will damage my taurus pt-1911 since their manuel only show 225 grain.  It just that I bought hornady critical defense ammo which are 185 grain and I want to know if they are safe on my pt-1911.

Answer
Hello Gabriel,

Sorry for the delay in answering your question, but I cannot answer your question specifically. I have no idea if your gun can safely fire ANY kind of ammo, telling you either yes or no would be a lie or a guess at best. I would stick with what the manual for your gun says. A 185 grain bullet is alot slower and weaker than a 225 grain bullet, thereby it might cause what is known as "stove piping". A HEALTHY, NORMAL, firearm can safely fire 185 grain bullets of the same caliber with no problems. Consult with a gunsmith if you have any doubts.
