Answer
Hello Wayne. Actually, you have a S%26W 2nd Model DA. It was built from 1880 to 1884. Your serial number 67725 is probably around 1883. The 2nd Model DA used a round plate on the left side of the frame for increased strength. Smith %26 Wesson 2nd Model DA's were a step ahead of their time. They incorporated 2 rows of stops around the circumference of the cylinder giving it a very distinctive look. Basically, when the hammer is cocked in single action mode or at the height of the double action movement, the cylinder is locked in place by the rear stops. Upon release of the trigger after firing, the forward set of stops kicks in to keep the cylinder from rotating out of position. In original condition it can be worth from $200-$300. These older revolvers shot ammunition with a lower chamber pressure than standard off the shelf today. You can get the lower pressure ammunition by order. I hope I have answered your question and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
