Question
Hello Paul, I'm wondering what the value of my 1963 browning safari 270, with a mauser action. I had called browning and talked to there historian, and all they would say is that it was one of the best guns they have ever made. He also said it was one of the earlier safaris because of the serial # L326. Also it was not a salt finished gun. The gun is in about 80% to 90%. Hope you can help. Thank You, Edward

Answer
Hi,
Its a Browning High Power Bolt Action Rifle. "Safari" is the grade of the rifle not a model.
Safari was least expensive followed by Medallion and Olympian.
These rifles long action were made by FN in Belium or short action made Sako in Finland.
FN rifles were made from 1959 to 1975
Sako rifles were made from 1961 to 1975.
Safari grade in a common caliber is worth $400 to $900 depending condition.
(270 & 30-06 are most common)
In person appraisals are recommended on these rifles.
There can be variation in that number. Its rare price guide recommend appraisals.

Some prices on these rifles can be misleading. There are rare calibers that add a
a large amount to its value. Salted wood can dramatically decrease its value.
