Question

Ruger GP100
I have a Ruger GP100 Mod 172-79272.  Is this an unusual gun?  I can't find one like it pictured anywhere.

Answer
Tommy,

Is is not especially 'unusual', but you don't see to many of them out there.  Your GP-100 was manufactured between 1989 and 2006 since that is when they were made with the rubber cushioned grip panels that had the Goncalo Alves wood inserts.  The gun came in 3, 4 and 6 inch barrel variants and was available in either .357 Mag. or .38 Spl.  The blued version of the gun was introduced in 1986 while the stainless version you have appeared first in 1987.  1989 was the first year they had the special grips like your gun has...

Current values can range between $200 and $350 based on condition.  The original manufacturer's retail was around $600.

Hope this helps you out...

Best,

Doug
