Question
Do you know how old a savage arms corpration model 775A serial number 281623? It's in pretty good condition would you also know the value?

thanks if you can help.

Answer
Hello Keith. Savage has manufactured so many firearms it is very   difficult to determine the age of one. Some follow advertisements in older magazines such as American Rifleman or Sports Afield and can get close to a time frame of manufacture. This Model 775A is one of those types. Magazine adds show that they were available between the mid 1950's to mid 1960's. As far as the value, I have found good hunting models for around $100.00. If your's is in very good condition, with only very few and small flaws, around $225.00. Hope this helps.Charles Gage
P.s. I am awe inspired each time I fire one of these early semi-auto's. The rattle of the barrel sings to me a song of the good ol' days.
