browning A5 16 gauge

2016/7/22 9:15:56

Question
Jim, I recently purchased a browning 16 gauge A5 with a cutts compensator, I was wondering if it was a "sweet 16" and the year of manufacture. Serial number is X6575,and does not have a gold trigger.

Answer
Roddy,

According to the serial number provided, 6575, your shotgun was made in 1913 if it is in deed a four digit number. It should have the safety in the front part of the trigger guard. The sweet 16's were not produced until 1953. The difference being, the standard 16 which you have is heavier and lacks the gold trigger. For an interesting read on the Auto-5, I suggest you find the Browning Auto 5 book by H.M. Shirley and Anthony Vanderlinden. Hope this helps.

Jim
