sight radius

2016/7/22 9:16:54

Question
Please define sight radius particularly as it pertains to handguns.

Answer
Bill,

I really hope that you were not looking for a long drawn out and complicated answer to this question. Not much need to complicate an issue unnecessarily.

That said, "Sight Radius" in nothing more than the distance between the front and rear sights. In other words, if you have a 6" revolver but the distance between the front and rear sights measures 5", it is said that the sight radius of the example revolver is a five inch sight radius.

Many shooters believe that they can shoot more accurately with a handgun that has a longer sight radius however, I have personally found that to be a bit questionable but this goes beyond what you have ask. Another answer I guess for a different question but interesting just the same.

I hope this helps you and if not, just clarify the question and I'll pursue it further.

Thank you for the question Bill.
