browning auto 12 gauge

Question
I recently inherited a Browning Auto 12 gauge with the word "Trademark"  engraved on the receiver.  I am having a hard time finding any info on this gun.  Approximate year, model, history, value etc.  Serial number is 235984.  Any info would be helpful.

Answer
Steve,

Your Auto 5 was made sometime between late 1945 and 1946. The receiver probably has a picture of John Moses Browning profile engraved with the word Trade Mark on either side. Value depends on condition, originality, vent rib, choke configuration. Vent rib, no pad, all original in like new in the box condition would be $1200-$1400 maybe more to the right buyer. Hope this helps.
