Question
Hello, I recently found a mossberg 495A bolt action shotgun in my decease uncle's basement.  I was wondering if you knew what years they were made in, value, and how i get it legalized without a serial number in NJ.  and info would be greatly appreciated!! thanks Kevin.

Answer
Hi,
Here link to NJ Gun laws.
Basically you need a permit for a long gun.
Not having a serial number is not uncommon.
Most pre 1968 shotguns have none.

The 300 & 400 series shotguns were made from mid 1960s
into the late 70's.
The worth $50 to $100 depending on condition.
