What about a Ruger or Springer XP or maybe a Taurus
-----Question-----
Hey Sid nice to hear back from you.I want a .45 with atleast a 10 round capacity.I have a Keltec sub2000 in 40 and my personal opinion is that is not much more than a 9mm. I would buy a used gun if a nice one was available. Thanks in advance, bye Keith.

Hey Sid I have asked you a few questions here in the past month and I appreciate your honest responces.I would like to know what you think is the best 45 auto for the money.I have a Springer 1911 but want one that has more capacity and a price range around $700.00.Any info is appreciated, thanks Keith.

Hi again Keith,

Do you only want to consider new for that $700 or are you willing consider used if in good condition? Are you only willing to stay in the .45 range or would you consider a .40 ? What magazine capacity are you looking for?

Get back to me with answers to these and we'll "kick some tires" together Keith.

Keith,

I was wondering about a 40 only due to the fact that it is easier to find high capacity pistols in a 40 than 45 but..... I understand your response and consideration of same.

If you have read many of my past responses you will have noted my advice about making "big holes". I have no problem with the 45 but some shooters have a problem shooting them so I usually split the difference and recommend a 40.

Ok, that said and back to your question. I am a believer in spending the money up front for a quality firearm for many obvious reasons. The large magazine capacity and $700 cap eliminates some of our options.

All is not lost however. One such pistol that I know of is made by Kimber (I've previously written glowing reports about their products in the past)and is meets both of your requirements.

The Kimber Ten Series has a 1911 frame that holds a ten round magazine. Additionally, there are (where legal) 14 round magazines for sale through Kimber Master Dealers, and Kimber Custom Shop. They are the same length as the standard magazine and fit flush with the bottom of the grip.

The Kimber Pro Carry Ten 2 45ACP Model KF-3200038 is available at $708 and the Kimber Stainless Ten 2 45ACP for $695.

If I were personally looking to pick up a 45ACP within the requirements that you outline, this would be it. I hope this helps you and maybe saves you a bit of additional time looking for that "perfect" pistol. I would think this is it.

Thanks for the question.

Answer
Hey Keith,

They are all fine and I know of no reason not to purchase any of same. However, (you knew there had to be a "however" right?) since your question was what I think is the "best" one for the money........ it is the Kimber hands down.

If I were to make a second choice it would probably be the Ruger. I've never been overly impressed with the Taurus but that's just a personal preference I guess. For the money they are functional/dependable but I still think your best value (and potential for highest resale if you ever want to do so) is the Kimber.
