M-16 Army Expert guidelines

Can you tell me what the guidelines were to qualify as an Expert with an M-16 in the Army in the mid-1970's? i.e., distance, number of targets, time, etc. Thank you for your time.

Hi it depends on the exact year as standards changed.
Here in general is standards;
M16s for Basic rifle Marksmanship.
Qualification consists of 20 rounds fired from prone supported, 10 from prone unsupported, and 10 from kneeling, shooting at 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, and 300m targets. Getting 23-29 is  qualifying. 30-35 is Sharpshooter, and 36-40 is expert.
