.410 breech lengths

Does fireing a 2 1/2" shell in a 3" breech cause any damadge. thank you bruce.

Answer
It is generally considered that the answer is no, and you can go-ahead and fire 2 1/2 inch cartridges in a 3 inch chamber. But I think that firing a thousand 2 1/2 inch cartridges in a row might allow some wear in that last half inch that could be noticed when you fire a 3 inch cartridge, but still would not affect performance appreciably unless you're a top shooter in a competition.
