Missing Bolt for 30-06 Rifle

Question

Kent Firearms Ltd 30-0
Thanks for you response to my question about the 30-06.  The only marking I found on the rifle were as follows:  KENT FIREARMS LTD, E. WOODARD AVE, SPRINGFIELD PENN, 30-06 CAL AND the SN#22662. The rear site is a Williams and there are no other marking on the rifle anywhere that I can see.  I took a few photos and will attempt to attach them to this message.  I would really like to have this rifle back in working order. I would like to give it back to my brother as a gift on his 60th birthday.  I realize that it may cost me more than what the reifle is worth, but I am quite sure it would be a surprise to him. I have tried the internet looking for parts, but I have been unsuccessful.  Do you have any ideas on finding the part or a  couple of gunsmiths that might be able to fix this problem. Any assistance would be helpful. thanks

Answer
Andrew,

The best thing I can suggest is that you try and find a gunsmith in your area that is familiar with Mauser type rifles.  There is no 'national directory' of gunsmiths.  You should drop by your local gun store and probe their local knowledge.  If you have a larger retailer nearby, like a Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops, they might even have someone that does gunsmithing on site.  You might also consider giving the good folks at Numrich Gun Parts a call.  You can visit their website at:  http://www.gunpartscorp.com

I wish I could be more helpful, but your best bet at this point is to find someone local that can help you out.

Best regards,

Doug Little
