Wards Western Field

Question
I did a trade the other day and ended up with a Wards Western Field 20 ga double. The modle is 52-58311-TA. I cant find a serial number on it. It is chambered for 2&3/4 shells.I was trying to figure out how old it is and what its value might be.It looks good and the information I found on it said the last one made was sometime in 1954.thank you for your help.

Answer
Hello Randy. The actual model of your shotgun is 52-SB311-TA.Serial numbers were not required until the Gun Control Act of 1966. Your Wards Westernfield was a less expensive production of a Stevens Model 311. I can't tell you when it was made, but the value is in the $150-$175 range, and there is no collectability for these old department store guns. I hope this answers your questions and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
