Another Colt Official Police 38SPL

I got my Dad's Colt Offical Police 38 Special CTG after his passing. The serial number is 830605 and has stamp on the butt that reads "PA1379" which I have not seen mentioned in other questions about this model. It is blued, 4" barrel, wood checkered grips with Colt insignias. Shows some holster ware, but still shoots great. Got any idea of the age? What is the PA1379 represent? Not interested in selling, but may be good to have an idea of its worth for insurance, if possible.

Hello Terry. First I offer you my condolence on the passing of your father. Mine passed away on January 16,2009. Now considering the year your revolver was made, 1954. As for the alpha-numerals on the bottom of the butt, the closest I can get is that these were stamped for military use. The serial number '830605' being on the crane or frame. During the Korean War, several Official Police revolvers were issued to non-combat military servicemen who had anything to do with Federal works that necessitated the carrying of a firearm. I found nothing concrete, but I hope this answers your question and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
