Info for a 410 Sears, Roebuck

Question
I have a 410 Ranger 103-14, Sears Roebuck and co. Can somebody tell me the age of this gun and a estimated value of the gun please.. Thanks. not sure on the serial number but only can find under next to triggers R 130. Hope this helps. Thanks again

Answer
Hello James. Assuming your Sears Model Ranger 103.14 is an over and under shotgun, it was manufactured by Marlin Firearms. Actually, all Sears Series 103 were manufactured by Marlin Firearms  between 1937 and 1958. The Ranger, built from 1937 to 1949, had a vent rib between the barrels with a box-lock receiver and shell extractors. Originally manufactured by Marlin Firearms, it was designated the Model 90. One of the very high quality shotguns of the time. The Marlin Model 90 values today range from $500-$1,000+ for one with a double trigger to $1,300-$3,000+ for a single trigger. The 'store brand' guns, like Sears, were generally manufactured with hardwood stocks, instead of walnut, less embellishments and shine. The workings, however, were not inferior to the Marlin in any way. The cost was lowered to put a great gun in the hands of the utility hunter. These values today are usually 15-30% lower than the original manufacture's model. I hope this answers your question and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
