Troubleshooting 1911 Slide Stop Issues: Solutions Beyond Replacement

In the 1911 I have has a problem with the Slide Stop. The Slide Stop keeps pushing out and the magazine won't stay open on the last round.I've tried adjusting the follower on the magazine and it works great until the Slide Stop pushes out just a little bit.What can I do beside getting a new slide stop?   Vick

The slide stop is what keeps your slide locking back, the magazine pushes the slide stop up, which stops the slide.  It sounds like a faulty slide stop, the slide stop should not come out unless the slide is back and the notches on the slide are lined up.

I would try and push the slide stop out with the slide forward, it should not move, it is does it is not working.  The mag may be pushing too hard and forcing it out, would have to look at it, but a replacement slide stop is not that expensive and it that fixes it, then easy fix, if not, then you have to send back to maker.
