Rifle in pawn

Question
I live in Arizona and wanted to see if there's any law that should prevent me from picking up a rifle that my husband had put on pawn.  He's unavailable to pick it up himself and I plan to get a Durable General Power of Attorney signed by him.  The pawn shop if telling me that they cannot release the rifle to anyone but him.  They tell me my only  other option is to let the pawn go dead and buy it back after they put it up for sale.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Sounds like they might be right.  I do not know AZ law specifically but, if a back ground or fingerprint is required to buy a gun, then giving you the gun without know if you are a convicted felon or possible mental issue (psy problems or issues) then they could get in trouble.  But if they sell the gun back to you, then they must comply with state law for selling guns and then they are covered.  It could be just a way to rip you off, but I would call the local cops, ask them and maybe ask them to meet you at the shop for a "civil standby"  That way you are more likely to get honest answers from the pawn shop and the shop will not want problems with the cops, so they may be more cooperative.
