Proper Breakdown and Assembly of S&W PC .460

Question
Hello,

I recently purchased the S&W PC .460. and I have a few questions that I hope you can help me with.

a - What is the proper breakdown sequence
b - What is the proper assembly sequence and torque value's if any
c - A complete breakdown should be done after how many rounds
d - What ultra-sonic cleaner and solvent displacement do you recommend

e - What oil would you use with this handgun

f - I would like to coat the barrel and all moving parts except the 5 chambers with Tungsten Disulfide (WS2). I have been told on this handgun that the 5 chambers need to be free of WS2 or oil in order that when the brass expands during firing it needs to be able to stay solid in the chamber due to the extreme pressures that are exerted or damage will occur over time. Your thoughts on this

Your help in answering these questions and any other advice concerning this handgun will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Mark

Answer
Mark,

If you read my bio, you know that I'm not a hunting handgun guy; my expertise is in fighting handguns (which today generally means autos).

Before I address any of the questions, you are aware that this gun has been recalled because of barrel failures? http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CustomContentDisplay?store...

a) If you mean a complete disassembly, I wouldn't recommend you do that unless you have gunsmithing experience. If you do, then you'll know what I mean when I say it should come apart like any other S&W revolver.

b)S&W is the place to check to see if there are torque specs, but I doubt very much that there are.

c) Unless there's a problem with it or to check parts wear, I don't see any reason to completely disassemble a revolver.

d) For the price of them, I've never cared for the ultrasonic cleaners. They're expensive and unnecessary.

e) As a revolver has not fast moving parts, any good oil will do. I like Militec-1.

f) Look on-line for a product called Microlon. If you properly treat the chambers with it you won't need oil.

Good luck
