Browning Sweet 16 Shotgun Information & Estate Valuation
Question
I am in the midst of trying to settle my fathers estate. Included is a Browning Sweet 16 shotgun which is part of the estate. I have looked it over very carefully and have found some info:
1. Made in Belgium
2. Browing Sweet 16 2 3/4"
3. Number stamped on bottom in front of where shells are loaded is "S6541".
Unless I have missed something that is all that appears on the shotgun.
From my childhood I remember him buying it sometime in the mid to late 1950s.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim
Answer
Hello,
Your fathers Sweet 16 was made between January and May of 1954. The "S" in the serial number tells you it is a sweet 16 along with the fact it is engraved on the left side of the receiver.
It is hard to determine value as there are a number of things to consider. If you would like, please take several photos with a few close ups of the receiver and wood and I will try to help you a little more.
