NC Concealed Carry Permit & Prior Felony: Eligibility Analysis

Question
I'm a recruit for NC Dept. of Corrections.  I have a prior felony from 16 years ago and have served in the U.S Army after my conviction.  Do you think NC will turn me down for a ccw?  Or does being a Correction Officer automatically qualifies you as a licensed ccw?  I also have a certificate of releif from disabilities for my only conviction.  I'm in the process of applying for a Florida out of State ccw permit which I was told I qualify for.

Answer
The denial for a CCW is state specific, you can lookup denial reasons under the NC CCW website. Denial for a felony will depend on the type of felony and adjudication. The most important thing is to be honest up front.

Whether your status as a Corrections Officer qualifies you for a CCW is probably under the County Sherrif's jurisdicition.
