i buoght a gun from a private owner, what/how do i go about registering it? thank you!

Not enough information for me to be able to answer.

Each state and city has their own (or none) laws regarding registration. You are going to have to call the law enforcement agency in which you reside to ascertain their regulations.

IE. Where I live, there is no required registration - period. However across the street is a different city and they DO require registration.

Sorry  that I can't be of more help but there are just far too many jurisdictions for me to be able to know all of the regs.
