osteoarthritis and rollerskating

Question
Hello Pat,
Age 49. I've been on dialysis for the past 15 months.  I had physical therapy for 7 months because i couldn't move my legs due to kidney failure, congestive heart failure high blood pressure and osteoarthritis.  I was very active for all of my past years and present.  Recently, i began rollerskating because that's one of the sports i enjoyed. Is rollerskating dangerous for me because i have osteoarthritis? or will rollerskating help me?
Thank you in advance for your response.

Answer
Hi Donna,
I wish I could say that it's not dangerous for you but falling does happen and you could break something.  The actual exercise is good for most people's heart and bones but I would definitely talk to your doctor to see if he recommends it for you.  It's always better to be safe than sorry.

Because I'm not a doctor, I'm sorry I couldn't give you a definite answer if skating will help you or not.  But your doctor should be able to answer that for you.

Good Luck....I hope it works out for you.

Pat
