Question
hi glenn,

thanks for answering me a couple weeks ago about selecting a base layer. which one would u recommend.

the stanfield base layer

Weight: - 9 ounces.
Content: 100% Micro Polyester Fleece.
Care: Machine wash and dry.
Micro-denier fleece construction
New tagless neck labels.

Performance, heavyweight garment.
Fabric brushed on both sides for additional warmth.
Micro-denier construction adds to wind and water resistance.
Moisture management capabilities.
Flatlock stitching ensures comfortable fit.
Extra long Lycra reinforced cuffs.
38mm "Polar-therm"?signature waistband

or

kombi
100% kom tech polar fleece polyester
heavyweight plush fleece 10.5 ounces/linear yard

i would think that the heavier kombi would be warmer? they are both the same price.

thanks,

sk

Answer
I am familiar with the Kombi but not the Stanfield product. Generally though the higher weight indicates a greater degree of insulation all other things being equal (such as the ability of the material to transport moisture away through the mico-fibre or hollow fibres to reduce the impact of the cold affecting the core temperature through conduction).
