Flooring / Advice

Question
Hi Pat,
I'm sure you've skated on various types of floors. I've heard of the new Skatecourt type flooring, which is a put it together kind of tile flooring that doesn't need coating. Have you ever skated on this (or know someone that has) and if so, would you recommend it to someone (me) who is planning on opening her own rink.

Many Thanks in advance...

Answer
Hi Ozlem,
I have never personally skating on this type of floor but I do know that it's
mainly used in my area for roller or inline hockey or soccer.  If you plan on opening up
the rink to the public for kids sessions, kids classes, adult skating sessions etc..
then I would not recommend it at all.

Wood floors are the best but you can also use cement.  Both are coated with a polyurethane
coating to protect the floor and to keep it from becoming slippery.

   Good Luck with your rink.
