where to inline skate indoors in NYC

Question
Hi Lezly-
Just wondering where I could inline skate indoors in NYC (I live in Brooklyn).  It's 102 degrees out today so I don't want to skate outside, but I really would like to skate today somewhere w/ air conditioning.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,
melissa

Answer
Hi Melissa,
There are only 2 indoor rinks left in the NYC area. Nearest to you is the  Empire Roller Rink on Empire Blvd, tel: 718 462-1400. It's been there for many a long year - I first skated there in 1945 to organ music. It's solid disco & R&B now. Best nights are Tues & Sat - call to check what other nights they are open. You can give my regards to Big Bob the super DJ there - he's a dear friend.
The other rink is the world famous Roxy located at 515 W 18th St. bet 10th & 11th Ave. in Manhattan. They are open only on Wed. nights for skating, from 8PM till 2 AM. My beginner skate classes are held there on Wed. from  6:30 till 7:45 & my students get in for half price ($9.00). My Int/Adv. classes are taught there on  Fri. from 6:00 till 7:30+.
Enjoy both venues! If you are interested in classes or wish to be on my NY Skaters list, you may call me at 212 777-3232 or email me at [email protected]
