Starting - In Line Skating 101

Question
I am about to plunk a $100 for a reasonable good pair of skates.  I am fairly athletic (thought myseld to ice skate- great achievement if you consider I grew up in the orient).  Where in Chicago can I get good lessons for basic skills?  Thank you for your time.  PS any suggestion for good beginner skates.  Don't intend to be a pro but I don't want to get injured either by getting bad equipment.

Thanks

Answer
Im sorry havent gotten back to you sooner but my computer has been down. But to your question, $100 is on the low end for a reasonable pair of skates. I only tell you this cuz the saying "you get what you pay for" applies here. The main thing you want to know is if you buy skates that are too cheap then they can hurt your feet and youll end up never using them. Make sure you try on any skate you buy and shop around.
If you can ice skate you should have the balance to pick up inlines pretty easily. Chicago has a great skating community. There is a skate club and Im sure some inline teachers. Try http://www.getinlinechicagoland.com/ or IISA.org as resources.
Lastly, I want to recommend pads and a helmet when you are learning. Most serious skaters use them and they will give you the confidence to try cuz you wont be scared of falling.
Good luck and contact me again if you have any more questions.
