PROPER SKI LENGTH

Question
Ron:
I AM 50 YEARS OLD, 5'-5" 165 LBS., LEVEL 5 INTERMEDIATE SKIER.  SO FAR I STICK WITH GROOMED SLOPES BUT WOULD LIKE TO VENTURE OFF PISTE MORE.  I SKI NO MORE THAN 2 WEEKS A YEAR.  I'M TRYING TO DECIDE BETWEEN A 165 CM OR 160 FISCHER RED HEAT SKI.  HOW MUCH MORE DEMANDING WOULD THE 165 BE THAN THE 160?  I'M LOOKING FOR A SKI I CAN USE FOR CONTINUE TO PROGRESS ON.  THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

Answer
Hi Garry,

At the height and weight you provide, I think the 165 is the right ski. It will give you both off trail stability and on-trail performance. The 165 will not be significantly more demanding, but it will provide the necessary surface area for float in crud and (more) confidence at speed.

Enjoy them!

Ron
