junior race skis

Question
I just purchased a pair of Dynastar Omeglass Jr. race skis for my daughter.  This is the one with the race-plate. (It costs twice as much as the one without the plate.) However, I'm worried that these skis will be too short.  Last year she skied on a Rossignol 138 'Power9 Course' without any plate.  I was going to purchase a 148 (without plate) for her. However, I ended up purchasing the 140cm ski with the plate.  Should I have gone the longer non-plate ski? Or will she be OK with the 140 plate version. (She is 95lbs, and around 4'11. She's twelve years old and is a good athlete.)
Thanks.

Answer
Dear Phil --

I believe your daughter will be fine on the skis you bought her at least for this season.  Unless she grows a lot and gains a lot of weight, she should not damp out the performance of these skis.

You did not say whether she is similar in height and weight to last year.  If she is, I think these higher performing skis in a slightly longer length are a great choice for her.  If she's gotten taller, but has not gained a lot of weight these ski should still be good for her.

Best of luck to your daughter in her races this season.
